CHALCO STAMP & DIE

I'm sure it's true in many other fields - that behind the big names and famous work there are craftsmen in the shadows who bring something very special to the end result.

The men at Chalco have been producing stamps and dies for many years and most likely have more expertise than anyone in this particular field. Many World-renowned tool makers use stamps made by Chalco to mark their work (see 'make it, mark it' in my journal), and then there are many more like me who have the need or desire to mark their tools or work in the traditional way.

An amazing stamp for one of the finest makers of leather goods in the World.

For years I have been a great admirer of Tusting - one of the finest makers of leather goods in England. Everyone knows Mulberry but Tusting produce pieces as good or better, yet are often overlooked by the wider public. No great surprise that Tusting have used Chalco for their stamps for many years - and some of the results are stunning.

The craftsmanship involved is very impressive indeed, hand-cutting steels into final shape, often from hand-drawn template designs. Hardly a computer in sight... I gather there is the odd one around but it's reserved for the mundain email traffic.
