KLAUS & PEDDER

Good name, great story. Once upon a time two German lawyers met at a seminar, and discovered a shared interest in tool-making... well, saws really.

Two Lawyers saws are, in my opinion, the very best hand-made saws in the World.

There are plenty of very good planes around (it’s not hard to spend £4,ooo on a handplane), and more recently a good array of fine chisels, beautiful marking tools and so on. But the dominance of power tools, machines and very low-cost handsaws had caused the fine traditional handsaw to have been somewhat overlooked.

Klaus and Pedder don’t make a lot of saws - my most recent order took close to 2 years to finish, although that was significantly due to Klaus developing a severe allergic reaction to Cocobolo (an exotic hardwood) which became a severe reaction to almost any wood. Klaus is back in action now, but they won't even take my next order - maybe in 6 months. There is some demand for these saws you see.

Fancy a bespoke saw? They start by measuring your hand, then discuss exactly what you will use it for. You choose the wood for the handle - everything is truly tailor-made and hand-made.

The finished article is as close to perfect as a man can get.
